Philippians 3:7-8 But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ. NIV

Recently, during my devotional time, I read Philippians chapter three and began to meditate on verses seven and eight. These verses helped me realize that we need to let go of the lifeless things in our lives, just as Paul did, to gain something that brings us freedom.

We can awaken from dead places and things to something new. By trusting Him, the Lord provides an opportunity to give us a new direction and purpose. But first, let us be aware of the dead things that lead us to codependency or toxicity in our relationships, families, and jobs. Sometimes, we walk around with dead thoughts relating to things that should be alive to us.

Let us evaluate things such as mentally draining jobs that do not benefit us, parents enabling adult children, and the decisions that stagnate our goals and businesses. The friendships that we think are solid. We spend our money on things that have no value and close our eyes to our current and future wealth.

We must open our minds and eyes to the great possibilities that await us. People who came to an awakening said, “I didn’t know” or “I didn’t see the red flagsā€ that people inside and outside our circle tried to tell us. We miss it because of the mental and emotional confusion and let our feelings deaden the reality of what is visible and available.

When you are ready to say enough is enough. Prayerfully examine every challenge or situation in your life that you are struggling with and have the courage to confront all actions relating to them. Honestly, admit that you need help and share that with someone you trust or a professional who is only interested in seeing you become your best self. They are ready to help you explore a new trajectory for your life. You must believe you deserve to be in a better situation where YOU WIN!
